Champagne Wine Map

Attributed to the monk Dom Pérignon as inventor of its world-famous wine, Champagne the region is the birthplace of sparkling and méthode champenoise (traditional method) wine. The region is widely dispersed across five major sub-regions, from the Burgundian-like terroir in the south to the “Coronation City” and ancient capital of Reims in the north. The Champagne region has always played an integral role not only in wine history, but also in the history of France.

A wall map of the Champagne wine region in France. The map depicts the delimited appellations/Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée (AOC) and vineyard areas in Champagne, including the still wine appellations Coteaux Champenois and Rosé des Riceys. An inset highlights vineyard areas and Grand and Premier Cru villages from Reims to Épernay.

The map includes the principal black and white grape varieties for the region, and the authorized wine type for every AOC.

All base map information is originally digitized from satellite imagery. Map includes digital shaded relief. All wine-related content is derived from official national sources and regional wine associations.
